There is much concern about
the presence of potentially toxic chemicals in items that are in
frequent contact with children. Of particular recent concern has been
the presence of lead in toys and coatings on toys. Numerous items have
been recalled from the marketplace.
Even the California State Health Department had to recall a lunch bag
that had been given to students to encourage healthy eating habits.
This was recalled due to lead in the color decorations.
Truesdail's ANSI accredited certification program can not only test for
lead, but can also evaluate and certify the entire production process
and maintain
While lead is of primary concern, the Truesdail testing program can
test for and certify products for the broad spectrum of toxic metals
such as cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, beryllium, etc.
Truesdail employs the product testing protocols such as are in Consumer
Product Safety Commission Policies.

In addition to toxic metals, several states
(for example: California AB 1108, 2002) have passed legislation
limiting the amount of phthalate plasticizers that may be contained in
products intended for children. Truesdail can test and certify such
products under the scope of our ANSI accreditation.
